Excellent Sunday brunch for those of you who hate to get up to serve yourself thus always leaving people alone at the table. Seven services each one perfectly served by a young and professional staff. The menu is delightful with something for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on what was a blah and rainy day, the Saint-Mathieu brought some warmth and sunshine into our day. Would love to return at night. I recommend this restaurant to all.

We have just returned from an evening at La Colombe. Although we were not totally disappointed, we were not overwhelmed either. First of all upon arrival the gentleman shook his head no when I mentioned our name and our reservation and then realized that we did have a reservation. He directed us to a choice of three tables and we chose one near the kitchen entrance. The restaurant is very small and seats approximately 36-40 people crowded into a small space. Apparently there is an upstairs area as well for larger groups but I did not see it. The menu had several "extra" items to the Table D'Hôte. We started with a cream of cauliflower soup which was o.k. but not spectacular. This was followed by my choice of Terrine served with a bit of fruit spread and a little spring salad. My husband had a salad with mackeral which was extremely salty. The main meals were the Côte de Cerf de Boileau with a pepper sauce. Although very tasty, it was a huge piece of meat. It was served with some sort of bean mixture and green beans. Very tasty. I chose the Magret de Canard with was not as tender as I am accustomed to. The pieces were too thick and too rare and I had to ask for a better knife to cut through it. The fig sauce that it was served with was very tasty. My vegetables were squash and green beans. The portions were quite plentiful. The dessert was a choice of blueberry almond torte and a chocolate mousse in crème anglaise. The mousse was superior to the torte but there was plenty to share. Decaf was available and very tasty. Service was not warm but very professional. We asked for a carafe for our wine and it was not a problem. I personally do not think we will return, however I do not regret trying it.

We wanted an early dinner before going to the Centre Bell to see Don Juan. We took advantage of the early bird menu. We started with the soup which was very flavourful and had a wonderful texture. I think it was cream of asparagus. I had the chicken (too large a portion with two big breasts!) which was delicious, but could have fed two or three people! My husband had the salmon which was quite a big portion as well. Dessert was a tiramisu which ended a very nice and inexpensive meal. I am not a fan of jazz, but it was not overpowering at all.

We rollerblade from Lachine to Old Montreal once every summer and although we check out many restaurant's menus, we always end up here and are never dissapointed. The service is excellent, you can people watch on the terrace for lunch and there is always something interesting going on in Old Montreal.
