The first Indian restaurant I tried in Edmonton. Not quite as good as New Asian Village, or India Grill, though definitely cheaper, still one of my faves!!

This was my first time trying Indian food, and I found everything to be delicious. Some items were very spicy, but the menu selection is huge so ask the waiter to recommend something not too spicy if you aren't used to it. My favorite was some sort of a compressed cottage cheese in a kind of squash-based sauce, that came with the Deluxe Combo that I ordered (the other choice in the combo was lentil soup, which didn't sound as good and I think I made the right choice here). Service was very good, the waiter checked on us 3-4 times during the meal and was prompt with the bill. A bit pushy with trying to sell us drinks but I didn't really mind. The decor was amazing, very authentic looking Indian statues and artwork everywhere. The linen tablecloths and napkins really gave the place a classy look - I almost felt underdressed! I'm not a fan of open kitchens, though this one wasn't that noisy. The music was also nice. Most appetizers are under $5 and the main dishes are only $10, with the combo plates topping out the price range at only $15. Combo plates were big enough but no so much that you'd have leftovers, and though I can't judge portion sizes for the main dishes, it seems like you get pretty good value here. Overall, dining here was a great experience that I would recommend to anyone looking to try something a little different. I will definitely return in the future to try some of the other dishes that sounded so good.
